Report:
The Didim Municipality organized environmental events in 2022 with the aim of protecting the ‘Blue Flag Award’, increasing environmental awareness in the region, and effectively conveying environmental education and awareness activities. These efforts were recognized and awarded in the beach category by the “Education and Awareness Raising Activities” jury. The jury members included representatives from the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change, Ankara University Department of Educational Sciences, Gazi University Faculty of Education, Selçuk University Faculty of Tourism, Başkent University Sustainable Environment Application and Research Center (BÜÇEM), and Nature Conservation Center. Along with Didim Municipality, six other municipalities, four hotels, a tourism association, and three marinas also received the same award.
Mayor A. Deniz Atabay of Didim Municipality expressed their commitment to environmental sensitivity and stated that they are working towards making Didim a renowned tourism city with its nature, history, and clean air. They aim to leave a beautiful city for future generations by keeping the environment clean. The Mayor extended gratitude to everyone who contributed to this cause.
The “Best Environmental Education and Awareness Activities” award, which is entitled to be received by five municipalities in the country, including Didim Municipality, will be presented at the 2023 National Blue Flag Award Ceremony.
